Jackson Pollock

The Jackson Pollock Collection my artist's statement
___________________________________________________

I know what Jackson Pollock meant when he said,

"My painting does not come from the easel. I prefer to tack the un-stretched canvas to the hard wall or the floor. I need the resistance of a hard surface. On the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting."

The resistance of the anodised aluminium surface yet its absorbent qualities are an ideal medium for me.  Instead of walking around my painting I hold it up when complete and twist and turn it peering into the serendipitous shapes that I have made looking for the best way to present them as wearable art. That's my secret.

I started jewellery making as a means of introducing my art to a wider audience.  Trained in fine art painting, with an honours degree, I turned to jewellery to achieve wider exposure.

Anodised aluminium absorbs the colours which are fixed permanently into it under the surface.  The bangles are flexible and will fit any wrist.
